Avoid the use of illegal drugs

Some of you say, “We can do whatever we want to!” But I tell you that not everything may be good or helpful.
1 Corinthians 10:23 [Contemporary English version]

At a certain age in your life, you may do whatever you want to do. If it is not the right thing to do, you will have no choice than to face the consequences. That is why it is crucial to be mindful of your choices in life.

Illegal drugs are dangerous.

I know of someone who lives in London in England. His parents were very rich. They supported him in his education. He worked hard at the university and obtained a degree. He had a noble profession as a barrister but drugs ruin his life. He told me himself “I have given up on bathing; no bath in years. I inject dangerous drugs into my veins and I prefer to die”

This person was very intelligent and respectful individual in the society but because he chose to use dangerous and illegal drugs, he lost his job and led a hopeless life. An illegal drug doesn’t care who you are. If you give it the least chance, your life will be destroyed. It’s very important for you to get this information as a young person.

Don’t copy the unhealthy habits of your friends or peer to be accepted by them. Getting involved in illegal drugs is a very dangerous thing to do. What makes a lot of young people excited is the use of dangerous drugs and premarital sex. However, these habits might have serious consequences, especially in a young person’s life. Medicines are legal drugs. The illegal drugs I am referring to are dangerous drugs such as:

1. Heroin

Heroin is a highly addictive opium. An opium is anything that causes dullness. It soothes the mind or emotions. The effects of heroin include liver disease and infections from injecting it.

2. Cocaine

This dangerous drug can increase the risk of heart attack or stroke. Cocaine has caused many deaths. Don’t allow it in your system.

3. Barbiturates

Barbiturates is a synthetic sedative drug. Sedative drug makes users sleep. The use of this drug can lead to coma or death.

4. Street Methadone

This drug can damage your lungs, therefore, you must avoid it. You are more precious than street methadone. Be filled with the Spirit of God instead of the spirit of drugs.

5. Alcohol

Alcohol can lead to liver damage. It is described as the devil in solution. It has caused many accidents. It has started many wars. It has broken many homes and caused many deaths. Avoid it completely.

6. Ketamine

Ketamine is another dangerous drug sometimes used as a dance drug by clubbers. It causes hallucination and it leads to memory problems. It can also cause urinary tract diseases or even death. A doctor psychologist destroyed her career by indulging in Ketamine. Don’t let that happen to you. Learn from other people’s mistakes. Don’t think you are smarter than illegal drugs because it can damage your brain, heart and other important organs in your body. Stubbornness has led to the destruction of many lives. Don’t think you are exceptional. Walk in wisdom to advance in life.

7. Ecstasy

Ecstasy has other names such as MDMA and “love pill”. It ia a drug that damages a person emotionally. Those who use is often suffered confusion and depression. They may also be affected by severe anxiety and paranoia. Psychotic behaviour including psychological problems can also occur.

8. Marijuana

Marijuana is also known as weed, Mary Jane, ganja, bud, pot grass etc. It is dried flowers of cannabis sativa and greenish-gray in colour. The drug has more than 500 chemicals and has mind-altering effect that can be very dangerous to human lives. Side effect of marijuana include very strange behaviour, confuses imagination with reality, panic, hallucination, risk of heart attack, increased risk of stroke, sexual problems among males, likely to contract sexually transmitted infections than non-user among females, decline in IQ with poor school performance, financial difficulties, antisocial behaviour including stealing money and lying, welfare dependence, greater chance of being unemployed, addiction, relational problems

9. LSD

10. Crystal meth

Using illegal drugs is an expensive habit.

Why is the use of illegal drugs such as heroin, cocaine, marijuana or shisha etc. an expensive habit? I have spoken to couple of people who use all kinds of drugs. They all seemed to say the same thing “When you start using dangerous drugs it is very difficult to stop” Why is that? Because most drugs are addictive. You cannot simply stop using it once you start.

It is an expensive habit because you need money and more money to buy the drugs to feed your habit. Some people sell their valuable things in exchange for dangerous drugs. Some even beg on the street to get a quick fix. I know of people who live in England who lost their homes because of this bad habit.

Instead of paying their rent they used the money to feed this expensive habit and ended up on the street. You will have no future if you become a slave to illegal drugs. As a young person, you need to be responsible. It is expected of you to focus on your studies not to give yourself to drugs.

I caught some young people using dangerous drugs. Some of them appreciated my intervention and stopped the bad habit immediately. Others hated me initially for my advice but later gain control of their lives and changed their ways. Others are yet to make that important U-turn. I am not giving up on anyone. Do your best and live a life that is free from illegal drugs.

Handling illegal drugs can lead to your arrest

The handing of illegal drugs can easily get you into trouble. When the police find them on you it will lead to your arrest. Unfortunately, some young people use illegal drugs and sell some to their peers. That is extremely serious and dangerous. You may get a permanent exclusion from school. You may also end up in prison or die early. This wrong behaviour should not be underestimated because it has ruined many great potentials and claimed many lives.

Illegal drugs can lead to health risk and mood swings.
